What is a trunk show?

As you’ve probably noticed The White Closet Bridal hosts several trunk shows a year. If you are new to the wedding gown shopping experience and have not been to a trunk show, it is an excellent opportunity to find the perfect gown. If you have never been to a trunk show, or are interested in attending one, read on.

A trunk show is a special preview hosted by a bridal salon showcasing a designer’s gowns for the new season. The dresses travel from one store to another across the country, staying at each store for one weekend only. That is why it is important to book your appointment early and bring someone whose opinion you highly value.

Appointments for trunk shows tend to book up early since brides are eager to get a chance to purchase a new style before it hits the stores. Since trunk shows only run for one weekend and the dresses are sent back on Monday bringing your mom, sister, or best friend is important so you can get their input on your choices. If you do find your dream gown at a trunk show, be prepared to order it then and there, because it will be gone in a few days.

Trunk shows are also a great opportunity to get a great deal on a designer dress. A store will usually offer 10% or $100 off of those gowns on that weekend only. To celebrate a trunk show a store will usually have other wedding vendors at the store such as bakers, makeup/hair artists, photographers, etc. You will actually get to meet some of the store’s recommended vendors and sample their goods.  It is a fun experience for the bride and her guests who are looking for the perfect gown.

These dresses were from an Ella trunk show showcasing a super sneak peek and opportunity to buy from the Fall 2012 line. WAY before stores carried them.
